COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN MSK
We revolutionized Computed Tomography in 2007 with the introduction of the Aquilion ONE Area Detector CT. Next to routine anatomical imaging, it provided access to high-resolution isotropic 160 mm volume datasets to visualize joint movement or any other 4D dynamic process. Dynamic volume scanning is able to capture the often complex mechanical abnormalities causing the patients’ symptoms.
As such, superior treatment decisions can be made for a wide variety of musculoskeletal functional disorders. In addition, dynamic volume imaging is able to capture perfusion with the administration of contrast medium, and has therefore revolutionized the way tumors of the musculoskeletal system can be assessed.
The next step in MSK imaging is ultra-high resolution imaging with the Aquilion Precision capable of resolving anatomy as small as 150 microns. This allows for detail as never seen before. Our innovative Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) technology eliminates metallic artifacts, improves visualization of implants, supporting bone and adjacent soft tissue.
