Amstelveen, Netherlands, August 7, 2023 – Canon Medical has introduced its Alphenix / Evolve Edition Angiography system for commercial sale in the European market. Utilizing Deep Learning technology in real-time, the Alphenix / Evolve Edition is designed to enhance imaging while enabling reduced time and radiation dose during routine and complex Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and Structural Heart Disease (SHD) procedures, improving safety for clinicians and patients.
The Alphenix / Evolve Edition has been launched in person today during the 31st Coronary Intervention and Therapeutics (CVIT 2023) conference in Fukuoka, Japan. An online launch event will be held today, August 7, at 19:00 CEST via LinkedIn.
“Interventional Cardiology departments are faced with increasing clinical demands, financial pressures, and the need for improved efficiency as the number and complexity of cases increase. To meet these challenges, we have introduced the Alphenix / Evolve Edition” says Kunitoshi Matsumoto, Global General Manager, Vascular Systems Division.
Erwan Ladsous, European Director Interventional X-ray, continues: “We are very proud to bring these meaningful innovations to the market. By deploying Canon Medical’s AI expertise to the field of interventional cardiology, we have full confidence that this will offer impactful tools to physicians and, most importantly, enhance patient care.”
The Alphenix / Evolve Edition delivers a range of industry-leading solutions for the Interventional Cardiology suite. Packaged under the αEvolve technology umbrella of AI solutions, these solutions provide real-time assistance that instantaneously support key diagnostic and therapeutic decisions without interrupting the workflow.
αEvolve Imaging utilizes Deep Learning based noise reduction and multi-frequency processing to enable outstandingly clear fluoroscopic imaging, which can deliver a two times higher contrast-to-noise ratio compared to conventional image processing.
Dynamic Device Stabilizer (DDS) has been trained with Deep Learning to automatically detect balloon markers in real-time, magnifying and stabilizing the image on a separate screen to assist visualization and assessment during complex Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures.
With the rise of structural heart disease (SHD) procedures such as Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) closure, Echo Fusion*1 taps into Deep Learning intelligence to automatically identify the echocardiography probe and efficiently fuse the fluoroscopic and echo image without additional operator input.
In addition, Alphenix / Evolve Edition offers a new level of intelligence and efficiency for the modern Interventional angiography suite through existing technologies like the 12x12inch flat panel detector (FPD) technology that provide complete procedural flexibility and Dose Tracking System (DTS) that provides real-time information on radiation dose, Alphenix / Evolve Edition offers a new level of intelligence and efficiency for the modern Interventional Angiography suite.
